Conversations with Santa

While Lake and I were doing a bit of Christmas shopping at the Mall yesterday, we accidently passed the "Santa Zone". For all you parents out there, you understand that one glimpse of the forbidden area inevitably means that you will spend the next hour either standing in line waiting to talk to the big guy, or arguing with your heartbroken child about why you are not standing in line waiting to talk to the big guy.

So, we waited in line to talk to Santa, whose first question was "Have you been a good boy?". My Lake?... good is such a relative term... it depends greatly on the circumstances, who he is with, where we happen to be, you know. Of course Lake told Santa he'd been good.

Santa moves on to the next question, "What do you want for Christmas?". Somewhere, somehow, Lake decided he wants a snowboard for Christmas. We have tried despritely to change his mind, but our three year old is determined to have that snowboard, despite the fact that as we speak it is a balmy 50 degrees outside. Lake tells Santa that he wants a snowboard for Christmas. Even Santa has a perplexed reaction, and says, "but Lake, what are you going to do with a snowboard, we don't have snow in Chattanooga".

Lake stares seriously at Santa and says, "Its OK, My mom will get that." So now I am supermom, who is supposed to be able to control the weather. I was really excited in Lakes vote of confidence in me, but SNOW in Chattanooga, I don't even think Santa could pull that off. We may be in for a trip to Ober Gatlinburg.

Leah-- It sounds like you HAVE to visit us! You'll be sure of having snow here. Lake needs to try out his snowboard on the real stuff!
