Birds and the Bees at the Chattanooga Zoo

Well, lets just say that I never planned on having the discussion of where babies come from with my son at age 3. But here's how it went... While visiting the Chattanooga Zoo with Lake and Ashton, who is 4, we encountered a VERY pregnant goat in the petting zoo.

Ashton is a vast source of knowledge on all things baby, as his mom is currenlty pregnant with triplets. Lake asked why the goats belly was so big and moving, and Ashton told him it was because she had babies in there. Lake replied with, "Yeah, cause she ate um." Ashton explained that she didn't eat them, God put them in there. (at this point I was VERY thankful that Kelly had already given her son a great answer on how the babies got there, because I was trying to figure out how to explain it to Lake without going into too much detail).

Lake then says, "Yeah, she's gonna throw them up soon." And Ashton explained (with the wisdom of someone much older than 4) that God would get them out. The whole conversation between the two was HILARIOUS.

Later we had the same conversation about Ashton's mom, Kelly, and that she did not eat the babies that were in her belly, nor was she going to throw them up.

They had a great day, and I have been informed that Ashton is Lake's "bestest buddy". Here are some pics of our day.

Oh my goodness!!!! That was such a great post! You need to send that story to Reader's Digest Leah. It's really hilarious! Lake is so big and really cute. I LOVE listening in on conversations Jonas has. Their perspective on life is just amazing and so fun to get a glimpse of.

That's great! Lake is a funny kid! It's a good thing you didn't explain it, Lake would never have wanted to grow up! =) Hug him for us! We love you!

I really love the simple perspective that Lake brings to situations. He sees things in a very non-complicated way that is wonderful! I hope to some extent that he stays that way.

That is hilarious! Lake has very practical ideas of how things happen. You are right, Kelly did a good job of finding answers for her son.
